Things I’ve learned
Hi, everyone!
While I’m not the most knowledgeable in book publishing know-how, I have picked up a few different things over the years of studying the craft that I think will come in handy when/if you decide to follow the publishing route for your own work!
Editing is not an option- it’s a necessity
Platforms are essential to your writing career as much as actually writing the book or project-I don’t make the rules, I just learn them. Best advice? Have fun with something that you care about! Don’t just do what everyone else’s doing, try a few things out and see which ones stick!
Your book/writing project is not all about you, it’s also about the people who support you and encourage you :)
Writing blocks exist for two reasons: lack of ideas/words or burnout (please don’t let it be the last one!)
Writing rules are meant to be learned so they can be broken- then break them with finesse!
Be kind to everyone, including yourself :)
Imposter syndrome is real, but you being an imposter is not real. You’re amazing and your work is amazing and your hard work will pay off!
Disappointments, discouragement, and bad days will come, but God and so many others part of your support group can help you get through them! :)
Just like looking in the mirror and seeing yourself over and over again, when you focus on your writing so much, you lose sight of how spectacular and beautiful and amazing your work is as well as all the amazing things that you are as a person! :)
I know I’ve learned more, but I might’ve forgotten a few things so for now, I’ll just leave you with these ten things to remember about writing and the journey that you’re on as both a writer and a person. I plan on sharing the things I’ve missed as well as anything new I learn when I remember them, so feel free to keep checking out my blog for any updates! :)
Thanks for reading!
