Risk vs Safety

Hi, everyone!

One of the most difficult parts of being a writer (or any creative field, really) is finding the balance between risk and safety, especially when it comes to real life things like health, finances, and personal situations.

If you’re writer or creative and you feel like you have to choose between writing and that life change or commitment, just know I understand completely. You are not alone with the pressures that life throws at you as you continue to find what works for you and your writing.

In so many ways, it feels like life’s fluctuating seasons interfere in our mental image of what our writing should look like. I’ve worked so many jobs and tried to find the job that works best with my writing schedule.

But the truth I’m still learning is that it won’t be perfect. There will always be that job where it conflicts in some way with my writing. Trying to find the balance with the season I’m in will always take some trial and error.

But that’s not what matters.

What matters is the returning to the work. And its work. Never ever let anyone tell you otherwise, my friend. Writing and creativity is work and it gets the short end of the stick a lot of the time.

When we return to the work, we return to the version of ourselves who say, “life says I can’t do this, but I’m going to prove life wrong”.

Keep going.

It’s not easy to keep going strong, especially with the responsibilities in life that feel like interruptions. Know that keeping going makes a bigger difference than you could ever believe.❤️

I believe in you and I really want you to believe in your own ability to finish that project. Trust yourself that despite life’s ups and downs that you’re doing amazing and you’re doing the work for something that matters.

What’s one life hurdle you’ve found in your writing journey that has defined you and challenged you to keep going?

Thanks for reading!
