2025 is here!
Hi, everyone!
With a new year, comes a lot of new goals! :)
At the end of each year, I’m always reminded how far I am away from the goals I keep adding to my list from the beginning of the year. It feels like I keep finding side quests throughout the year and I never actually arrive at my goal. But that’s where I should acknowledge that I’m human and always improving and trying to grow each day.
And that’s where our goals should start, too. Each individual day is the time to work a little bit on our goals and make progress on something we care about.
My goal this year? To prioritize my writing more each day.
I love writing and when I go for periods of time without writing, I’m always sad seeing how my projects aren’t ready to be shared with those closest to me- let alone being able to shared to bigger audience (like you!). It breaks my heart and it feels like I’m losing out on time doing something that I love which then adds more pressure on me for the next year. :(
So, this year, I am prioritizing my writing more each day. But I’m also prioritizing not putting pressure on myself, too.
I was recently reading a post on Brandon Sanderson’s website about spiraling up and down from each writing session and how he takes a 2-4 hours (if I’m remembering right lol) for his writing and then saves the other time for his family and anything else he needs or wants to do.
My own writing schedule looks like minimum of 2 hours a day to make significant progress on my projects, but my days are all over the place right now due to work so it remains an uphill battle. And it’s alright because goals aren’t meant to be easy, but they are meant to challenge and help a person to grow. Goals are also supposed to be something personal that a person cares about and I can honestly say my writing is a passion of mine, even after about a decade of writing. :)
Another final reminder is that I still accomplished a lot this year, even if it wasn’t what I was expecting or planning to accomplish! :)
What are your goals for this year?
Thanks for reading!
