Celebrate all the Achievements!!!
Edit 5/15/23: Since writing this post, I’ve since set aside the project I discuss below. My most recent video on discouragement covers my feelings on putting it aside, but this post is to show the other side of the situation. Celebrate your achievements, even if they feel incomplete or if they need to be set aside. This in no way means failure, it just means it’s an opportunity to let your project do its thing until it’s ready to be worked on again. My sentiments below are still the same and without realizing it, they are the balm God knew I would need as I put my project aside. Okay, edit over, go read the post below!!! (If you want to, of course! 😊)
Hi, everyone!
I hope you guys are having an amazing week so far! So, today I wrapped up my synopsis stage for a new story I’ve been working on which now means it’s outlining time!!!
While I’m extremely excited to move forward with this story, part of me struggled with celebrating the achievement. That part of me was saying, “it’s just a synopsis and you still have so much to do on it still. You barely made it to the outlining stage.”
Wow.
Okay, show of hands, who has experienced this before? It’s not fun, is it?
That’s what this post will be about, though. It’s so important to celebrate achievements- even achievements that don’t matter that much to anyone besides yourself.
It’s really important to be your own biggest cheerleader, but unfortunately, we talk ourselves down from celebrating what’s important to us. We avoid celebrating the gifts God has given to us as well.
Why do we do this?
Well, we probably do this because we don’t want to be egotistical or prideful. We want to be humble so then we downplay our abilities and talents and gifts all to seem like we’re doing something correctly by not drawing attention to ourselves. We’re choosing to hide our gifts when we do this and this benefits no one.
I’m always reminded about how God encourages us and how this can be compared to plants. There was this story that I heard once and I always think of it when people talk about how words are important to people.
So, this man had two plants. He tended to both of them the same way with water and sun and everything else, except for in how he spoke to them. One plant, he yelled at and spoke harshly to. The second plant, he spoke kindly to and with love.
The first plant died and the second plant thrived.
What does that say about us and our need for encouragement?
Maybe you feel like one of these plants or maybe you feel like a plant that’s forgotten or hidden away.
Know this: God is always there to encourage and comfort you. He wants you to encourage yourself in the same way He encourages you because when that happens, it’s a domino effect. The people in your life will be the unknowing recipients of that same encouragement that God gives you and you share from your own experiences to others.
Celebrate your achievements! Celebrate others’ achievements! Celebrate all the achievements, big and small, because celebrating is also a way of thanking God for all He’s done in your life! Your achievements are just as much a reflection of Him as they are of you.
I’m so proud of you and I hope you’re proud of yourself, too! I know I don’t know all the details of your victory, but God does and He loves to see you honoring Him by using the gifts He gave you! 💕
Thanks for reading!
