The Writing Month Project!
Hi, everyone!!!
I’m so excited to announce this year’s NaNoWriMo project!!! :D
The name of the project will be…
“Project Waves”!!!
(And yes, I made the short unofficial/official clip above on Canva and it’s both awkward and amazing! lol XD)
This project will be either great or a big mess, but I can tell you guys this: it will be fun! Yes, even if this entire project and plan goes sideways, I know that it will be filled with joy because I’m going to be sharing it with you guys. I hope and pray that this project inspires and encourages you with a project of your own! :)
One thing that’s always intimidated me about NaNoWriMo was always making sure I had a perfect story in place to actually write come November.
So, I decided to change things up this year and do something fun because I’m doing a daily upload updating you guys on my progress and hoping it might encourage or provide some extra laughs to those who are also participating in NaNoWriMo this year.
I’m also hoping to make this a reoccurring thing every November (if I physically can keep up with the crazy schedule I’m setting for myself :D)
Also, saying this here, if you just want to watch me, Prose_, do something crazy and overwhelming without participating yourselves then I would still love for you guys to watch the videos and make fun of me (in a kind way, please! lol XD).
I’d also love if you guys want to encourage those who are also participating in the challenge because I want those in my community to know that writing is not about publication, it’s about the love of creating stories and characters and experiences on the page to share with others.
I pray God uses this experience in a way that encourages you guys and maybe even others outside of our community. :)
Okay, so, without further ado, here is the game plan:
Each day:
I will write about 2,400 words per day. Why am I aiming for 2,400 words per day? I like the number and when I did the math the days balanced out pretty well. Also, shoot for the moon and you’ll land among the stars, as they say. :D
I will not be “writing” every day because I will be implementing “rest days” into the challenge, specifically four rest days. I will roughly be writing 26 out of the 30 days of the challenge. I encourage people to add rest days to their own calendars for NaNoWriMo because writing is like any other kind of fitness or exercise. It takes work to use different muscles and it’s not healthy to just plow through any kind of 30 day challenge without adding rest days. Please take care of yourselves. :) Burnout ain’t fun!!! See the calendar I will be using here if you want to follow along or want to use it as inspiration for your own project: The Writing Month/NaNoWriMo
I will be writing in small increments throughout the day. Specifically, I will be aiming for roughly 500 words per session and 4 sessions per day. This is my schedule and you guys don’t need to follow it at all lol! I just wanted to share in case any one else wanted to also give it a try, but absolutely no pressure from me! :)
I will be posting my updates on the community page of my YouTube channel. Link Here! [I was going to make a Discord channel for this, but I’m still learning the ins and outs of Discord and I can’t monitor the Discord consistently yet so until then, this will be the method! :)] This is all for fun and learning how to create a consistency for writing. I will most likely choose a fun project every year (fanfiction for a favorite show, a funny or ridiculous story that I’ve wanted to try out, or anything random really!). I want to make this as lighthearted as possible because I know myself and so many others who might struggle with the beast called perfection. This is a community shared event and I want to share my writing experiences (and mistakes! :P) with you guys, my community!!! :)
This is a no edit zone. Specifically, I am speaking to myself, but this does fall under the beast called perfection comment from above. Sometimes, self-editing can be helpful, but sometimes it destroys the creative process. If you really enjoy editing and feel it will make your time better for NaNoWriMo, then definitely add that to your practices and have fun! :)
Before the start of November, I will be making a few videos talking about how I’m preparing for November. I don’t want to make them all “worst mistakes to make while doing NaNoWriMo” or “new to NaNoWriMo, try this!” because I feel like that’s not my style. I will (most likely) be doing Quakecraft videos and coming up with thumbnails related to NaNoWriMo, but they will be writing prep videos for those who do want to participate and for those who won’t be participating. Bonus points if I can make them interesting enough that they reach people beyond this year XD.
I’m changing the name of NaNoWriMo. No, not officially, but in all honesty, it’s exhausting trying to type it all out in the right way so from henceforth on my channel we shall be calling it… the Writing Month! So much easier to say and it’s self explanatory for those who are new to the writing world or for those just curious and want to join us for all the fun! :)

Thanks so much and can’t wait to start this fun adventure with you guys! :)
